Since re-formatting these emails, it got me thinking about PLR and the amount we collect that just ends up gathering virtual dust instead of earning back our investment and more.

But, it’s not just a case of uploading them to our shop as-is or at best swapping out the author name to our own, they need to be changed enough so they don’t end up in ‘Blends-In City’ with all the other unchanged PLR.

But it can be hard to know where to start making changes, which parts of it we can leave and what needs significant re-designs. This causes procrastination and a resolution that we’ll edit it later, which of course is why we still have a hard drive full of untouched private label rights printables!

Enter my latest rundown of handy tips…

How To Make PLR Not Look Like PLR and Avoid Blends-In City

One of the first and easiest ways is to change the font. The type of font to use depends on the content of the PLR, for example a budget tracker needs a rigid font while a self-care journal will look more appealing in cursive styles.

We should aim to keep it to just a couple of fonts as this helps to keep the design consistent and easy on the eyes.

​Header Font: Think script fonts, playful handwritten styles or elegant serif fonts.

Body Font: Clean and easy to read like Lato, Open Sans or Montserrat work great.

Good Combos:

• Playfair Display + Lato
• Amatic SC + Poppins
• Dancing Script + Raleway

I also like Brittany, great for using as your signature in emails, online or on products.

​Keep cursive lettering for filler words like ‘2025 monthly calendar‘ and don’t use cursive on numbers. If it’s a digital product, avoid underlining words to highlight as they might confuse a user to think they are hyperlinked.

​Some projects look better with large text size, while others match smaller sizes. Be aware of kerning, which is the distance between each letter, different variations of the alphabet can look squashed when they are together.

✨ NEW! Auto Lead Machine​

I purchased Jeremy Kennedy’s latest product which launched last week. Auto Lead Machine is about building your email list but there’s a couple of things you need to know before you invest.

1. First off, this is about ads, so you will need to fund a campaign (min $25). The system Jeremy reveals is relatively unheard of so it’s not your usual Facebook / Google ad headache.
2. Second; ideally the leads need to be delivered to an autoresponder but the system Jeremy introduces you to only works with a few programs – and Kit (ConvertKit) is not one of them. (Leads can go to a Google Sheet but that eliminates the instant retrieval of whatever your new lead has signed up for.)

​All that being said though, the system Jeremy reveals is fairly unknown and it’s not your usal Facebook / Google ads headache.

​I’m going to use GetResponse (they offer a 30-day trial), and then move leads over to Kit. I’ll let you know if it works or not.
